Swallow Hill's
World's Largest Guitar Lesson
presented by Denver Film Society's Film on the Rocks

Thanks so much to everyone who participated in the Guitar Lesson at Red Rocks on Monday, August 18th! All of us teachers had a great time teaching and playing. And, what a great moment when nearly 4,000 people where singing along to the song we taught by the band The Faces, "Ooh La La." It was a great event and really helped to build and promote the music community here in Denver and Colorado. We hope that everyone who was there—whether you had a guitar or not—was inspired to play music.

501 guitar players did show up and helped to set a Colorado record but we did not reach the mark for the World's Largest Guitar Lesson; that distinction still belongs to the folk-giant in Chicago The Old Town School of Folk Music.

There were 25 teachers/artist/full time musicians who helped make the event happen and they can from six different music organizations around Denver. A big "Thank You!" to them for putting great energy into the lesson and playing song great tunes in during the big Jam at the end.

Also a special thanks to the Denver Film Society and Theaters and Arenas for partnering with Swallow Hill for the event and the entire Film on The Rocks Series.

We will try again next year to have another shot at a giant music lesson at Red Rocks. We know the enthusiasm and work will spread as we approach next summer. Check back real soon for photos, videos and quotes from student experiences.
