| A mandolin ensemble is the plucked string equivalent of a string quartet or |
| orchestra. Extremely popular in America around the turn of the twentieth |
| century, the ensemble consists of mandolins, mandolas, mando-cellos and |
| mando-bass, but can include guitars and double-bass. Learn about the |
| mandolin family of instruments, basic technique of a classical mandolinist, |
| reading standard notation, learning musical terminology, using dynamics, |
| following a conductor, and using tremelo in groups. Content will range from |
| classical to popular pieces arranged for mandolins or mandolin ensemble. |
