| Get your summer off to a great start! If you've always wanted an instrument |
| you can carry with you wherever you go, the backpacker flute is your |
| dream come true! These hand-crafted easy to play flutes are specifically |
| designed to be compact, lightweight and virtually indestructible. To make it |
| even better, they are constructed with the "less musically experienced" in |
| mind - you literally cannot play a bad note! Julie will teach you how to play |
| this beautiful and fun instrument, and you'll be making music by the time |
| you leave. This year's flutes will be based on the minor pentatonic scale for |
| that haunting Native American sound, and are designed for improv rather |
| than traditional playing. The materials fee covers the cost of the flute, or you |
| can take the flute-making workshop and make your own (see the |
| Instrument Building section). Advance registration required. |
