Denver – Master guitarist, composer and and leading
guitar authority Adrian Legg takes the stage at Daniels Hall at Swallow Hill
on Saturday, February 3 at 8 p.m. A native of Hackney, London, he got his
start in music by playing the oboe at his parents' wishes; soon he began
fashioning his own guitars and stringed instruments out of whatever scraps
he could find from the local bus station. While working as a young man in
Liverpool's airport, he met a man who invited him to join his band and
introduced him to country music. Eventually Legg hitched his way back to
London and began playing the local scene on his own. From these humble
beginnings he has risen to become one of the world's most revered guitar
players. For four years in a row (1993 - 1996), he was voted by the readers
of Guitar magazine as Best Fingerstyle Guitarist, and was named
Guitarist of the Decade by Guitarist magazine. In his latest release,
Inheritance, Legg blends his acoustic guitar virtuosity with a lush
sonic arena that harkens back to the musical textures of his childhood life
before the guitar. The Washington Post says, "Legg displays a rare
knack for combining strong melodic lines with arpeggiated
harmonies in such a way that they flow with a graceful unity ... listeners
will love the sheer beauty of melodic and harmonic interplay."
