Denver – Great Americana music trio Dakota Blonde returns to Swallow
Hill to bring their down-to-earth, sentimental, and humorous tunes that reflect
their influences of folk, bluegrass, and country for another Valentine's Day
celebration on Saturday, February 10 at 8 p.m. The trio consists of vocalist
Mary Huckins, guitarist Don Pinnella and acoustic bassist Tony Raddell. The
three met through their careers in music therapy, working with children and
adolescents who are emotionally troubled, and have since been on a musical
journey together, bonding with audiences through their personal performances.
Huckins is an accomplished songwriter, having nabbed top honors in the 2001
Walnut Valley Festival songwriters showcase for her song, "Somebody's Brother."
Her song "Dig Real Deep," was a finalist for the 2002 Chris Austin Songwriting
Contest at MerleFest. John McEuen, formerly of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, says,
"Dakota Blonde should emerge soon as one of those 'discoveries' that people will
get excited about—all they have to do is listen."
