Denver — Gilbert Brown, Michael J. Ronstadt (brother of
Linda Ronstadt), and Ted Ramírez are the Santa Cruz River Band, a trio from
Tucson, Ariz., who perform in English, Spanish, and American Indian languages.
They present an intriguing and powerful musical program filled with the history
and mystical lore of the Great American Southwest. Their music is authentic and
original, rooted in the music styles of the United States and Mexico, and their
performance is not only filled with great music, but with stories and song
introductions that captivate and elevate the consciousness of the audience. All
band members are prolific songwriters and gifted performing artists whose music
is perfectly suited for a variety of venues and events.
The Santa Cruz River Band has had recent
performances at The Kennedy Center, Philadelphia Folk Festival, Passim and
Center Stage. A more authentic and historically significant musical group is
difficult to find. "...a sumptuous array of American and Mexican folk songs,
supplemented by originals that reflect these artists' Southwest heritage." —
