Denver — The Roches are Maggie, Terre and Suzzy, three sisters who live in New York City. Together they have created 15 recordings in various configurations. Whether as a trio, duo, or solo, they have defied definition. Maggie and Terre began singing together professionally in the late 1960s. They both school to pursue a musical career and ended up being recruited by Paul Simon in 1970 to sing backup on his best-selling LP, There Goes Rhymin' Simon. The duo released their own LP, Seductive Reasoning, in 1975 and appeared as a duo for the last time at the Women's Music Festival in the summer of 1976. Suzzy joined her sisters later that year, and together, they gathered a huge Greenwich Village club scene following. Their self-titled album, The Roches (1979), was hailed as the Best Record of The Year by the New York Times.

They have performed for 20 years as a trio throughout Europe and the United States in a wide variety of venues from their own sold-out show at Carnegie Hall to the concert halls of Europe and the street corners of New York City. They've appeared on The Tonight Show and The David Letterman Show, and have sung with Philip Glass, Laurie Anderson, The Indigo Girls, Loudon Wainwright, and Linda Ronstadt, just to name a few. The Roches have a long tradition of original thought and close ethereal harmony, and they're known for their unusual and rich harmonies, quirky lyrics, and casually comedic stage performances. Come see them when they take the Swallow Hill stage on Saturday, January 26 and see why the Washington Post says, "The sisters still have a lot to say."
