DENVER, COLO. (12/2/08) -- Swallow Hill is excited to kick off their 2009 winter concert season with the acclaimed troupe, the Grant Gordy Quartet, on Friday, January 2 at 8 p.m. The talent on Swallow Hill's Daniels Hall stage for this evening is unparalleled and a great way to kick off 2009 with some stellar, genuine music.

Grant Gordy has been wowing audiences at Swallow Hill and beyond since he first landed on the new acoustic scene. This past September he had his first gig as a guitarist with the David Grisman Quintet. Joining him in his all-star quartet are Alex Hargreaves, Paul Kowert and Dominick Leslie.

Alex Hargreaves is a 17-year-old up-and-coming fiddle virtuoso from Oregon (and youngest ever Grand Champion at the Weiser Fiddle Contest) who's playing with Darol Anger, Mike Marshall and others. Bassist Paul Kowert is a recent graduate of the Curtis Music Institute, studies with Edgar Meyer and is the new bassist for Chris Thile's band, The Punch Brothers. Young virtuoso and hometown favorite Dominick Leslie will be on mandolin, back home for the holidays from his studies at Berklee in Boston. He simply amazes people with his burgeoning talent, as evidenced most recently at Swallow Hill when he appeared with Jeremy Garrett of The Infamous Stringdusters last December.
