DENVER — Swallow Hill Music and Twist & Shout present a night of classic Americana music from Greg Brown, support from Jason Wilber on
Saturday, December 19 at 8 p.m. at the L2 Arts & Culture Center.
Greg Brown's critical acclaims include the
Indie Award for "Album of the Year," several Grammy nominations, and frequent
rave-reviews in renowned publications. His 1992 album Dream Café rivaled
Bob Dylan’s Blood on the Tracks according to Z Magazine, and
Rolling Stone's four-star review of his 1996 album Further In called
him "a wickedly sharp observer of the human condition."
Brown’s latest release, Dream City: Essential Recordings Vol. 2, 1997-2006,
offers some new Americana classics, along with fan favorites from his last six
studio albums and some previously unreleased material and live tracks, including
"Christmas Song," a live recording captured on the Swallow Hill stage. An
editorial review of the song on Amazon.com claims it is “a live recording
that captures the spontaneous genius of Greg Brown in concert."
Opening for Brown is "journeyman guitarist, singer, and songwriter" Jason
Wilber, whose recent accomplishments include working with John Prine
on the Grammy Award winning album Fair & Square, and the Grammy nominated
albums Live On Tour and In Spite of Ourselves, which spent
an amazing 32 weeks on the Billboard Country Music Charts. Wilber has performed
on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Live with Regis and Kathy Lee, E-Town, the
monumental stage at the Grand Ole Opry, and Austin City Limits.
