ARE YOU READY FOR SUMMER? WE ARE!

Hello Songbirds,

Ah, summertime, and the livin’ is easy. Memorial Day is just around the corner, and another glorious Denver summer is almost upon us.

Summer is outdoor music time, and Swallow Hill has one of the best summer outdoor music offerings in town. Every Wednesday evening from June 4 through August 27 (except July 2), Swallow Hill presents the Shady Grove Picnic Series, presented in memory of Carol Gossard, at Four Mile Historic Park in Cherry Creek. The shows start at 6:30 p.m. and generally finish around sundown. Tickets are only $10 for nonmembers, $7 for members and $2 for children 12 and under. See our concert section, for the complete schedule and artist lineup.

If you haven’t been to one of these concerts, you really should give it a try. Spread out on the lawn with your family and share a picnic dinner beneath a glorious Denver evening sky and enjoy great folk, roots, and acoustic music. Dance if the urge strikes. Bring the kids and let them experience music that’s not filtered through an MP3 processor and a pair of ear buds.

Four Mile Historic Park is located at 715 South Forest Street, just off Cherry Creek Drive South between Colorado Boulevard and Monaco Parkway. If you live near the area, it’s a wonderful walk or bike ride along the Cherry Creek bike path. The park itself is one of Denver’s great cultural venues and Swallow Hill is grateful to Four Mile for letting us use their wonderful facility. For more information about the park (including a map and directions), go to www.fourmilepark.org.

Swallow Hill is also proud to be co-sponsoring “Summerfest Music Series” – two street fairs on the 1200 block of Old South Pearl Street (our old neighborhood!). The first festival, “Brewgrass,” is on July 12th and will feature nine hours of music with an all star line up of Bluegrass and Americana music. The second festival, “Brewfest,” is on August 9th and will feature all blues, all day. A $1 admission fee gets you into the all-day event where you can enjoy the beer gardens, street vendors and the historic shopping district.

Swallow Hill continues to provide in-house programming this summer with quality concerts and school sessions, workshops and activities all summer long. Inside or outside, we hope that you will make Swallow Hill part of your summer.

Best wishes,

Tom Scharf
